“Former NFL Player Rashard Mendenhall Lists Richard Pryor’s Iconic Estate for $4.24M

Rashard Mendenhall, the ex-NFL player turned Hollywood writer, is putting up for sale the luxurious 6-bedroom estate that once belonged to comedy legend Richard Pryor.

Priced at $4,236,000, the property, located in the exclusive Sherwood Forest neighborhood in Northridge, boasts 9,000 square feet of living space on a 2.2-acre plot.

Originally purchased by Pryor in 1976, the estate gained notoriety as the site of Barbara Walters’ interview and the tragic incident where Pryor accidentally set himself on fire.

The main residence includes 4 bedrooms, a gourmet kitchen, and a library, complemented by game and billiard rooms.

Additional features include a guest house, pool house, dance studio/gym, office, children’s playhouse, 3-car garage, and a kennel.

With resort-style amenities like a 65-foot pool, spa, tennis court, putting green, sauna, wine closet, and a barbeque pavilion, the property also features a citrus grove and vegetable garden.

Mendenhall, who acquired the estate in 2017 for $2.5 million, ties the asking price to his NFL rushing total of 4,236 yards. Neil McDermott and Beate Kessler-McDermott of Hilton & Hyland/Forbes Global Properties are handling the listing.”
