Woman Accused of Drowning Baby

Law enforcement has accused Esperanza Rae Harding, 20, of second-degree murder in connection with the tragic death of her son.

The criminal complaint reveals a horrifying account of events, alleging that Harding drowned her baby to demonstrate to her boyfriend, Edwin Trudeau, that he was her “top priority” over their child.

The disturbing incident came to light when Minneapolis police were dispatched to Children’s Hospital in response to a report of a missing child.

Harding initially claimed her son had died of natural causes at the hospital five days earlier, but no records corroborated this account.

Police grew suspicious and interviewed Harding, leading to her admission that her son had died in a Bloomington hotel on February 28, 2024.

According to the criminal complaint, Harding confessed to drowning her son in a bathtub, wanting to prove to Trudeau that he was her main focus.

She described being upset by her son’s crying while she was taking a bath in the hotel room, ultimately putting him in the full bathtub and drowning him. Shockingly, she even took a photo of her son floating face down in the tub, recovered by law enforcement from her phone.

In a chilling series of text messages, Harding communicated her distress to Trudeau, expressing her intention to do something drastic.

Trudeau allegedly responded with apathy and encouragement, even advising her on how to get away with it. After the tragic incident, Harding and Trudeau reportedly had sex in another room while the child’s lifeless body lay on the bathroom floor.

The criminal complaint notes that the child’s body has not yet been found. Both Harding and Trudeau are currently in police custody, with Trudeau facing charges of aiding an offender. The shocking case unfolds a disturbing narrative of neglect, manipulation, and a tragic loss of innocent life.
