Russia parades four suspects in court over Moscow concert hall attack

The attack at the Moscow concert hall was carried out by four individuals suspected of terrorism, resulting in the deaths of at least 139 people.

These suspects, identified as Dalerdzhon Mirzoyev, Saidakrami Rachabalizoda, Shamsidin Fariduni, and Mukhammadsobir Faizov, appeared in court to face terror charges.

Three of them were visibly injured as they were brought into the courtroom, with one needing a wheelchair. Originating from Tajikistan, they had been working in Russia on temporary or expired visas.

Russian President Vladimir Putin attributed the attack to “radical Islamists,” emphasizing the ongoing global struggle against this ideology.

Mirzoyev, the first suspect charged, was found with injuries and an expired resident permit. Rachabalizoda claimed to have Russian registration documents but couldn’t recall their location. Fariduni, employed in Podolsk near Moscow, was also implicated.

While three of the suspects pleaded guilty to terrorism charges, Faizov’s plea remained unclear as he appeared unresponsive.

The court remanded all four into pre-trial detention until May 2022. Additionally, the Russian Investigative Committee requested the detention of three more individuals, reportedly linked to the attack, later on Monday.
