Israel’s military says almost all weapons fired by Iran were intercepted

According to an announcement made by the Israeli military on Sunday, April 14, nearly all of the over 300 projectiles fired at Israel by Iran the previous night were successfully intercepted.

Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, spokesperson for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), stated that only a small fraction of ballistic missiles managed to breach Israeli territory.

Out of the barrage launched by Iran, which included approximately 170 drones, over 30 cruise missiles, and more than 120 ballistic missiles, the vast majority were neutralized by the Israeli Air Force and collaborative defense systems.

Despite the scale of the attack, Hagari reported that the ballistic missiles that did breach Israeli airspace targeted the Nevatim Airbase in southern Israel.

Fortunately, the damage incurred was minor, with the base sustaining only superficial structural harm. Operations at the airbase remained uninterrupted, with aircraft continuing to utilize its facilities.

The IDF spokesperson also mentioned attempted launches from Iraq and Yemen, none of which reached Israeli soil.

Additionally, Lebanon saw rocket launches aimed towards northern Israel, though no casualties were reported on the Israeli side. In response, Israel conducted retaliatory strikes on various Lebanese targets.

While a 10-year-old girl suffered severe injuries from shrapnel, there were no other immediate reports of Israeli casualties.

Addressing the seriousness of the situation, Hagari emphasized Iran’s actions as a significant escalation in the region, affirming Israel’s commitment to defending its citizens by any means necessary.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu broke his silence following the attack, expressing confidence in Israel’s defensive capabilities and unity.

In a post on social media, he conveyed a message of resilience, stating, “We intercepted, we stopped. Together we will win.”
