Tesla recalls nearly 4000 cyber trucks

According to documents from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Tesla is initiating a recall of nearly 4,000 Cybertrucks due to a concern with the vehicle’s accelerator pedal.

The safety recall report issued by the NHTSA specifies that 3,878 Cybertrucks will be recalled for repairs, encompassing all units manufactured between November 13, 2023, and April 4.

The report highlights that on the affected vehicles, applying significant force to the accelerator pedal may dislodge the pad, potentially causing the pedal to become trapped within the interior trim above it.

This recall announcement compounds a series of setbacks for Tesla. Recently, the company implemented a 10% reduction in its workforce following disappointing earnings results, which revealed a decline in vehicle deliveries during the first quarter of the year.

In an online forum owned by Elon Musk, a user named Garage Klub alleged that a March 4 incident involving a Cybertruck crashing into the Beverly Hills Hotel sign was potentially linked to this accelerator pedal issue.

However, the Beverly Hills Police Department has not yet determined the cause of the 2 a.m. crash. Notably, the NHTSA’s report states that as of this week, Tesla has not received reports of any collisions, injuries, or fatalities associated with this particular condition.
