At least four unleashed dogs turned aggressive, converging on a hapless individual, with the entire ordeal documented by onlookers.
The footage commences with the canines leisurely trotting along the sidewalk, with a police vehicle already present, seemingly monitoring the unfolding situation.
According to the person filming, one of the dogs, three of which were identified as pit bulls, had reportedly initiated an attack on another individual before redirecting their aggression toward a man across the street.
Surrounded and overwhelmed, the victim is knocked to the ground as the dogs assail him, prompting futile attempts by bystanders to intervene.
Amidst the escalating chaos, the officer cautiously exits the vehicle, responding to pleas from onlookers urging him to take action. Eventually, he resorts to discharging his firearm, aiming at the largest dog in the group.
The shot causes the dog to flee momentarily before succumbing to its injuries, convulsing on the ground. The Philadelphia Police Department disclosed that the officer involved has been placed on administrative leave pending investigation. Initial attempts to deter the animals using the patrol car’s siren proved ineffective.
Tragically, the dog fatally wounded by the officer was identified as a Cane Corso, while the three pit bulls managed to flee the scene, their whereabouts currently unknown.
The victim of the canine attack sustained multiple bite wounds across his body and was promptly transported to the hospital, where he remains in stable condition. Fortunately, the officer escaped unscathed from the ordeal.
