Second Boeing Whistleblower Dies From Infection

Another tragedy has struck the Boeing whistleblower community with the untimely death of Joshua Dean, casting a somber shadow just months after the apparent suicide of John Barnett.

Dean’s passing, occurring on Tuesday morning as reported by the Seattle Times, has prompted questions about potential connections between the two deaths, compelling Dean’s lawyer to advocate for a thorough investigation into any possible links.

Joshua Dean, a former quality auditor at Spirit AeroSystems, succumbed to a sudden and severe illness. Despite showing no prior symptoms of infection just two weeks prior, Dean tested positive for influenza B, MRSA, and pneumonia.

His condition rapidly deteriorated, manifesting in the alarming discoloration of his hands and feet due to infection.

Dean’s journey as a whistleblower began in 2022 when he voiced concerns at Spirit AeroSystems, a key supplier of aircraft parts to Boeing.

His alarm centered around the alleged improper drilling of bulkhead holes, a vital safety issue within the aerospace industry.

Despite bringing these concerns to management’s attention, Dean asserted that no meaningful action was taken. Tragically, his steadfast commitment to safety cost him his job, as he was terminated less than a year later, purportedly due to his whistleblowing activities.

The circumstances surrounding Dean’s death have inevitably drawn parallels to the earlier tragedy involving John Barnett.

Barnett, also a whistleblower embroiled in legal battles with Boeing, died under suspicious circumstances in March.

At the time of his death, Barnett was actively engaged in settlement negotiations with Boeing, seeking redress for alleged retaliation and other grievances.

However, Barnett’s legal team has refuted claims of suicide, expressing skepticism regarding the manner of his death.

Brian Knowles, an attorney representing both Barnett and Dean, has refrained from speculating on any potential connections between the two deaths.

However, he has underscored the need for transparency and evidence in the ongoing investigations, reflecting growing suspicions within the whistleblower community.

Joshua Dean’s passing at the age of 45 serves as a poignant reminder of the risks whistleblowers often face in their pursuit of accountability and safety within industries critical to public welfare.
