Zendaya’s Stylist Continues to Snub Big 5 Designers Who Previously Dismissed Her

Zendaya remains a fashion fortress against most major design houses as long as her stylist, Law Roach, is at the helm, steadfastly recalling which labels initially rejected her and refusing to budge.

Roach divulged insider details during his appearance on “The Cutting Room Floor” podcast, shedding light on why Zendaya opts out of Chanel, Saint Laurent, Dior, or Gucci when making high-profile appearances at fashion events and movie premieres.

Roach, who has been curating Zendaya’s looks since she was 14, recounted his early attempts to secure collaborations with prestigious designers, only to be met with dismissals.

He recounted, “I would write to the big five… and they would all say no. Try again next year. She’s too green. She’s not on our calendar.” As Julia Roberts famously quipped, “Big mistake. Huge.”

Roach emphasized that he still holds the evidence of those rejections, keeping a meticulous record of who spurned Zendaya.

Only Valentino managed to redeem themselves, ultimately featuring her in a full campaign. Roach asserted, “When I said, ‘If you say no, it’ll be a no forever,’ that rang true for a long, long time.”

Despite Zendaya gracing the cover of American Vogue in 2017, Roach remains unwavering in his refusal to collaborate with fashion behemoths, with the exception of Valentino, for her public appearances.

While Zendaya received accolades for her recent Met Gala ensembles, featuring two gowns designed by John Galliano, Roach reluctantly acknowledges that she has occasionally donned attire from the big 5 for magazine photoshoots, although his discontent is palpable.
