Eric Wynalda, renowned for his soccer prowess with the U.S. Men’s National Team, finds himself embroiled in controversy following an incident during his son’s recent club team tournament.

According to a police report obtained from Las Vegas, where the tournament took place, Wynalda, who was coaching his son’s team, allegedly engaged in a heated exchange with a player from the opposing team.

The player claimed to law enforcement that Wynalda directed derogatory language towards him, including calling him a “bitch” and insulting his mother.

The altercation reportedly escalated to a physical confrontation, with the player admitting to pushing Wynalda after they came face-to-face.

The situation devolved into a scuffle involving both sides, during which the teenager alleges he sustained scratches, although he couldn’t definitively identify the source of the injuries, whether Wynalda or other players.

Following the incident, a concerned parent from one of the teams contacted emergency services to report the altercation.

As a result, Wynalda’s son was sidelined for the remainder of the match. Despite alleged provocations from opposing players, Wynalda maintained composure and focused on the game at hand.

Video footage of the incident surfaced, corroborating Wynalda’s assertion that he remained composed throughout the ordeal and did not initiate any physical altercations.

Wynalda’s reputation in U.S. soccer is substantial, having enjoyed a storied career both domestically and internationally over nearly two decades.

He notably netted 34 goals in 106 appearances for the United States Men’s National Team from 1990 to 2000.

Wynalda, through his representatives, refutes the allegations of battery and asserts his commitment to maintaining professionalism, both on and off the field.
