Magician David Copperfield Addresses Allegations of Sexual Misconduct by Multiple Women

The UK Guardian’s U.S. bureau recently published a report detailing allegations of sexual misconduct and inappropriate behavior against magician David Copperfield, with a total of 16 women coming forward.

The investigation revealed disturbing accounts, including claims from three women who accused Copperfield of drugging them before engaging in non-consensual sexual activities.

Additionally, four women alleged that Copperfield groped them or coerced them into engaging in sexual acts during live performances on stage.

The accusations span a significant period, with half of them dating back to the late 1980s up to 2014. Shockingly, some women stated they were under 18 at the time of the incidents, with a few claiming they were as young as 15 when they encountered the illusionist.

In response to these allegations, David Copperfield’s representative issued a statement refuting the claims, asserting that they are contrary to Copperfield’s character.

The statement highlighted Copperfield’s track record of supporting women and emphasized that previous similar accusations had been investigated and found to be baseless. The representative also criticized The Guardian’s report for lacking evidence to support the allegations.

Copperfield himself denied the accusations, expressing his commitment to supporting victims of abuse and discrimination.

He called for an end to false accusations, stating that while he supports the #MeToo Movement, unfounded claims undermine its credibility.

This is not the first time Copperfield has faced allegations of sexual misconduct. In 2018, he vehemently denied similar claims, describing them as fabricated and detrimental to the genuine victims of the #MeToo Movement.
