Rory McIlroy Sidesteps Divorce Questions at PGA Championship

Rory McIlroy wasn’t in the mood to discuss his personal life while facing a pool of reporters at the PGA Championship on Wednesday, choosing to stick strictly to sports questions.

The 35-year-old golf superstar had filed for divorce from his wife, Erica Stoll, earlier this week, but those hoping for more information about his off-course affairs were left empty-handed.

Journalists were instructed not to ask about McIlroy’s personal matters as he took the stage at Valhalla. Before the press conference, a representative informed the reporters that all necessary information was included in the statement released by McIlroy’s team on Tuesday.

In the statement, McIlroy’s manager addressed the divorce, noting that the golfer would not be commenting on the breakup and was seeking to navigate this difficult period with peace and respect.

During the nearly 10-minute session, McIlroy fielded questions about his game and the upcoming tournament.

When one reporter attempted to inquire about how he was coping personally, McIlroy quickly shut it down, stating, “I’m ready to play this week.”

McIlroy and Stoll were married for more than seven years, but now his focus is clearly on the weekend’s tournament, leaving personal discussions off the table.
