Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico Shot – in Life-Threatening Condition

Slovakia’s Prime Minister Robert Fico was shot multiple times this morning while cameras captured the incident, and his condition is reportedly dire.

Robert Fico, who assumed office for the third time last year, was attending a government meeting in the town of Handlová when an individual in the crowd opened fire.

The video footage of the shooting is somewhat grainy, but the sound of gunshots is unmistakable, followed by a frantic response from the prime minister’s security team as they rushed to apprehend the shooter.

Another clip shows two men hurriedly carrying Fico’s limp body to his vehicle, his feet barely touching the ground as they drag him.

Fico was immediately transported to a local hospital before being airlifted to a trauma center 20 miles away.

A statement on Fico’s official Facebook page described the incident as an assassination attempt, noting that the next few hours would be critical for his survival.

Slovakia’s President Zuzana Čaputová confirmed that the suspected gunman has been detained and promised further details on the shooting as they become available.

The motive behind the attack remains unclear. Fico, Slovakia’s longest-serving prime minister, is known for his outspoken stance against providing aid to Ukraine.
