Emirates Airlines to Resume Operations in Nigeria on October 1

Emirates Airlines has announced it will resume operations in Nigeria starting October 1, 2024. The airline disclosed the news on its official X handle on Thursday, May 16.

“We’re back, Nigeria! We’ll be resuming services to Lagos from 1 October 2024, and we can’t wait to offer unrivalled connectivity to Dubai and beyond to over 140 cities,” the airline wrote.

In an accompanying statement, Emirates confirmed it will operate a daily service between Lagos and Dubai, providing customers with more choices and improved connectivity from Nigeria’s largest city to Dubai and other destinations.

Emirates suspended flight operations to Nigeria in November 2022 due to its inability to repatriate $85 million in revenue trapped in the country. This suspension followed a similar halt in August 2022, also related to unrepatriated funds.
