Man Saved from Oncoming Train After Seizure Causes Fall onto Subway Tracks

Dramatic footage captured the heart-pounding moment when two NYPD officers raced through a Bronx subway station to rescue a man who had fallen onto the tracks during a medical emergency.

The man, reportedly suffering from a seizure, fell onto the tracks during rush hour, landing dangerously close to the deadly third rail as a train rapidly approached.

Officers from the 47th Precinct rushed into the station just after 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14, to save him.

One officer gained access to the platform thanks to a passenger who opened the emergency exit gate, while the other officer was forced to hop the turnstile.

“Despite the imminent dangers, @NYPD47Pct officers sprang into action & without hesitation pulled him off the tracks,” the NYPD tweeted.

As they grabbed the man and pulled him to safety, several bystanders on the platform assisted, with one officer shouting, “Come on, come on, come on.”

After successfully pulling the man off the tracks, the officers attempted to escape the oncoming train. One officer leapt back onto the platform with ease, while the other struggled briefly before also managing to escape just before the train arrived. The officers then tended to the man, who was lying on his side on the platform.

The heroic actions of the officers were met with praise from bystanders at the station. “You saved a life,” one man remarked.

A woman sitting near an ambulance added, “They both risked their lives jumping into the tracks to save his life. Y’all did a good job. Really, really good job.”

The condition of the man who fell remains unclear, but no other injuries were reported.
