Morgan Wallen Postpones Nashville Bar Opening Over Memorial Weekend
Morgan Wallen has postponed the opening of his Nashville saloon over Memorial Day weekend amid ongoing legal issues related to his alleged chair-throwing incident.
Here’s the story: Wallen, in partnership with TC Restaurant Group, was set to open “This Bar & Tennessee Kitchen” in downtown Nashville this weekend.
However, representatives for the establishment issued a statement on Friday, announcing the delay without providing a new opening date.
The statement to Billboard read, “We’re proud of our team who has worked tirelessly to prepare Morgan Wallen’s This Bar & Tennessee Kitchen for opening. The ground-up construction of a six-story venue launching with hundreds of team members is a tremendous amount of work and a complex process.”
They assured that the experience for guests will be exceptional and well worth the wait. According to a source, the bar was awaiting final inspections, although they did not comment on whether there were issues obtaining a catering license for alcohol sales.
Additionally, the delay was not due to the Nashville Metro Council’s recent decision to deny approval for the bar’s external sign.
Complicating the situation is Wallen’s involvement in a chair-throwing incident from the rooftop of Eric Church’s nearby bar, “Chief’s.” The chair allegedly thrown by Wallen nearly struck two police officers below, an act that could have had serious consequences.
Witnesses identified Wallen, leading to his arrest and charges of three felony counts of reckless endangerment and one misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct.
His initial court hearing was postponed to August 15, which may also impact the bar’s ability to secure a liquor license.
The combination of final inspections and Wallen’s legal troubles has left the opening of “This Bar & Tennessee Kitchen” in limbo, disappointing fans and patrons who were eager to visit the new venue.
