Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson Visits D.C for High-Profile Engagements

Rapper and entrepreneur Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is advocating for increased minority representation in the luxury spirits industry during his visit to Washington, D.C., on June 5, 2024.

Jackson, a prominent figure in the black-owned spirits industry, is leading a new kind of “bottle war” to promote economic opportunities for Black entrepreneurs.

The 48-year-old entertainment mogul, alongside civil rights attorney Ben Crump, is spearheading an initiative aimed at bolstering minority representation in America’s growing alcohol industry.

They highlight the significant economic potential for Black-owned companies, asserting that these businesses are missing out on billions of dollars in revenue.

In an Instagram post, 50 Cent announced, “I’m off to DC [airplane ascension emoji] to talk to the Congressional Black Caucus about how @suntoryglobalspirits has damaged my business.”

On Wednesday, Jackson and Crump will meet with Congressional leaders at the Rayburn House Office Building to address and counteract the marginalization of Black-owned businesses by corporate America, aiming to bridge the wealth gap.

Crump underscores that 50 Cent’s successful ventures in music and television can serve as a blueprint for Black entrepreneurs.

This is exemplified by the success of Jackson’s Sire Spirits company, which he launched in 2017. By 2021, Sire Spirits had made a significant impact in the liquor industry, securing its first official franchise deal in 2023 with the NHL’s Vegas Golden Knights.

Despite its success, Sire Spirits is currently involved in a legal battle over Jackson’s embezzlement claims.

Jackson’s Le Chemin du Roi Brut champagne has received notable accolades, including being named grand champion and winning the Best of Show award at the 2023 Houston Rodeo.

Additionally, Branson Cognac, another product from Sire Spirits, is the official drink of several major sports teams, including the New Orleans Saints, Indiana Pacers, Sacramento Kings, and Houston Rockets.

Through this initiative, Jackson and Crump hope to leverage Jackson’s business acumen and influence to create more opportunities for Black entrepreneurs in the luxury spirits market.
