Virginia State Trooper Hit By Drunk Driver During DUI Stop

A Virginia state trooper was thrown to the ground after a drunk driver crashed into her patrol car during a separate DUI stop, and the dramatic incident was captured on video.

The event occurred on Tuesday on Interstate 495 in Fairfax County, where Trooper C. Aziz was responding to a sedan stopped in a lane.

Dashcam footage shows her at the driver’s window, trying to get the motorist to either exit the vehicle or move it to the shoulder.

Suddenly, a Jeep Cherokee plows into her patrol car from behind, causing it to lurch forward and strike the trooper.

Aziz was knocked off her feet by the impact, and can be heard crying out in pain as she hits the ground. Remarkably, she quickly gets back up, despite the intense collision. A photo of her patrol car taken after the crash shows it severely damaged.

Following the incident, Aziz was taken to Fairfax INOVA Hospital for evaluation and was found to have only minor injuries. The driver of the Jeep was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol.

In addition, the driver of the stopped sedan was arrested and faces multiple charges, including driving under the influence of drugs, obstruction, possession of a Schedule 1 or 2 substance, refusal of a breathalyzer/blood test, and improperly stopping a vehicle on a highway.
