NBA Star Cameron Payne Arrested for Filing False Police Report

Philadelphia 76ers guard Cameron Payne was arrested in Arizona early Friday morning for providing false information to police.

The incident unfolded when the Scottsdale Police Department responded to a disturbance call at approximately 2:44 AM in Scottsdale.

Upon arrival, officers encountered Payne and another individual. Although specific details were not disclosed, the SPD reported that Payne was arrested at the scene and booked on charges of refusing to provide a truthful name and filing a false report to law enforcement. The 29-year-old NBA player was released from custody shortly thereafter.

Payne, who was recently traded to the 76ers from the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for Patrick Beverley, has a connection to the Scottsdale area, having played for the Phoenix Suns from 2019 to 2023.

Throughout his NBA career, spanning 405 games, Payne has averaged 7.9 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game.
