Autopsy Reveals Riley Strain’s Cause of Death
Riley Strain’s disappearance and subsequent death gripped the nation’s attention. Now, the mystery has been partly resolved with the release of his autopsy report, shedding light on how he died.
The autopsy report lists Riley’s official cause of death as drowning combined with ethanol intoxication, with the manner of death determined to be accidental.
The report provides further details, revealing Riley’s blood alcohol concentration (BAC) was 0.228 at the time of his examination—nearly three times the legal limit for driving.
The examination also found no significant trauma to his body, although traces of THC were detected in his system.
Riley’s body was discovered in the Cumberland River in Nashville on March 22 by an employee at a nearby concrete plant, several days after his disappearance.
The release of this information brings much-needed closure to his grieving family after months of uncertainty about the circumstances surrounding his untimely death.
As previously reported, Riley, a college student, vanished two weeks before his body was found. On the night of his disappearance, he had been ejected from Luke’s 32 Bridge, a bar owned by country singer Luke Bryan, for being excessively intoxicated.
His family was deeply concerned when Riley’s body was recovered without his cowboy boots, pants, or wallet—items he had been wearing when he went missing.
According to Chris Dingman, the family spokesperson, this absence of personal belongings led to speculations that Riley’s drink might have been spiked.
These concerns were further intensified by an earlier preliminary report suggesting a lack of water in Riley’s lungs, leading his family to worry that he might have been dead before entering the water.
Dissatisfied with the initial findings, Riley’s parents commissioned a second private autopsy through an independent firm to ensure thoroughness and accuracy.
This final autopsy report offers some resolution, confirming the accidental nature of Riley’s death due to drowning and alcohol intoxication.
While the findings address many questions, the absence of trauma and the condition in which Riley was found continue to be points of interest for his family as they seek to fully understand the events leading to his tragic passing.
