Lazio in £30M Talks with Manchester United for Mason Greenwood Transfer
Italian club Lazio have reportedly initiated negotiations with Manchester United over a £30 million transfer for Mason Greenwood.
According to Sport Mail, Lazio’s interest in the 22-year-old striker dates back some time, having closely monitored his performance during his loan spell at Getafe last season. Now, they are actively pursuing a permanent move this summer.
Talks between the clubs are progressing well, with Lazio proposing an initial £30 million fee that could increase with performance-based add-ons, as per sources close to the discussions.
Lazio is not alone in their pursuit of Greenwood; Serie A competitors Juventus and Napoli have also expressed interest in the forward.
However, Lazio is positioning itself as the ideal environment for Greenwood’s next phase of development, especially in light of his exit from Manchester United amid serious allegations last season. Those charges, which included attempted rape, were ultimately dropped in February 2023.
Lazio aims to present Greenwood with a compelling vision for his career growth, arguing that their project offers a stable platform for his rehabilitation and further development, contrasting with the higher pressures and expectations at clubs like Juventus, particularly given their involvement in Champions League football.
