Remy Ma Stands by Son Jayson Scott Following First-Degree Murder Charge
Remy Ma has spoken out following the arrest of her son, Jayson Scott, who faces first-degree murder charges.
In her statement, she expressed unwavering support for her son’s innocence and called for a thorough investigation by the NYPD.
“We stand by Jayson’s innocence and pray that the NYPD will conduct a complete and thorough investigation to reveal the truth.
This is undoubtedly a difficult time for my family and me. While we sincerely appreciate the love and support we have received from all of you, we kindly ask for privacy as our legal team works to prove Jayson’s innocence,” Remy Ma stated.
Jayson Scott, also known as “Jace Smith,” is being represented by attorney Dawn Florio. Remy Ma emphasized her intention to personally address the situation but noted that she has been advised against it by legal counsel due to the active case.
“As his mother, I want to address this situation personally but have been strongly advised by his legal counsel not to say anything — as most people in similar situations are informed by their attorneys due to it being an active case,” she conveyed via Florio’s law office.
Scott, 23, and another man have been charged with the first-degree murder of Darius Guillebeaux, a 47-year-old man described in local reports as an “alleged drug kingpin.”
The incident occurred on June 7, 2021, at around 12:58 PM, when police responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting at the intersection of 148th Street and Rockaway Boulevard in Queens, NY.
Officers found Guillebeaux unresponsive on the ground, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the head and chest. He was transported to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Jayson Scott and his alleged accomplice are now in police custody, facing charges not only for first-degree murder but also for two counts of weapons possession and reckless endangerment. Authorities are investigating the possibility that the murder might have been a contracted hit.
