Julio Foolio Fatally Shot in Targeted Hotel Attack

Rising Florida rapper Julio Foolio, born Charles Jones, was tragically killed in a shooting outside a Tampa-area Holiday Inn early Sunday morning.

The 26-year-old artist was in Tampa to celebrate his birthday when he became the victim of a fatal attack.

Julio Foolio initially stayed at an Airbnb but had to relocate after being evicted for exceeding the property’s maximum occupancy. He subsequently checked into the Holiday Inn, where the tragic events unfolded.

According to his attorney, Lewis Fusco, Julio Foolio was ambushed in the hotel parking lot shortly before 5 AM ET.

Fusco’s statement, released mere hours after the incident, confirmed the rapper’s death and requested privacy for his grieving family.

The Tampa Police Department has indicated that Jones appears to have been the primary target in the shooting, although official identification from the Medical Examiner’s Office is pending.

The ambush also resulted in injuries to three other individuals, all of whom were transported to a nearby hospital and are expected to recover fully.

Authorities are actively investigating the motive and circumstances surrounding the shooting. As of now, no additional details have been provided by law enforcement.

Julio Foolio gained widespread attention in 2018 with the release of his debut album “6toven” and continued to build his career with subsequent albums, including his most recent project, “Resurrection,” released in April of this year.

Known for his gritty lyrics, which often referenced real-life violence and gang-related incidents in Jacksonville, Julio Foolio had experienced previous encounters with violence, including being shot in the foot last year.

His untimely death marks a significant loss in the music industry, particularly within the Florida rap scene.
