Ex-Wrestler 2 Cold Scorpio Arrested After Stabbing Incident – Claims Self-Defense

Former wrestling star 2 Cold Scorpio, known for his WCW Tag Team Championship win with Buff Bagwell in the early 1990s, was arrested on June 15 following a violent stabbing during a gas station altercation. Scorpio, whose real name is Charles Scaggs, claims he acted in self-defense.

According to court documents, the incident occurred at around 3:40 AM at a Love’s Travel Stop in Kansas City, Missouri. Scaggs, who was working as a security guard at the time, confronted a man he believed had lit a cigarette inside the store. The man contends he thought the cigarette was extinguished before entering.

Scaggs alleges that after instructing the man to refrain from smoking indoors, the man became hostile, allegedly responding with, “F*** you, what the f*** are you gonna do?” Scaggs claims the man then threatened him.

The confrontation escalated outside the store, where Scaggs says the man attempted to grapple with him. During the struggle, Scaggs reportedly pulled a knife from his pocket and stabbed the man in what he described as an act of self-defense. The scuffle continued, resulting in multiple stab wounds.

Authorities arrived to find the victim on the ground, bleeding from his head, chest, buttocks, legs, and abdomen.

He was transported to a local hospital, where he was intermittently conscious. Later, the victim reportedly told investigators that Scaggs had been the aggressor.

Scaggs was arrested and charged with first-degree assault and armed criminal action, both felonies. After posting bail, he pleaded not guilty and is scheduled to return to court next month.

Scaggs, who debuted in professional wrestling in 1985, competed under the names 2 Cold Scorpio and Flash Funk in various promotions, including WWE. His career is highlighted by multiple championship victories.
