Lakers Coach JJ Redick Firmly Denies N-Word Accusation

Los Angeles Lakers head coach JJ Redick is unequivocally denying allegations that he used a racial slur against a woman while he was a member of Duke University’s men’s basketball team, asserting that such an interaction never occurred.

Halleemah Nash, an author, speaker, and Duke alumna, made a startling accusation on social media on Tuesday, claiming that Redick had called her the N-word during his time at Duke.

Nash wrote, “I’ve only been called the N-word to my face by a white man once in my life, and it was on the campus of Duke University while I was working with the basketball team. And today, he was named the new head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers. What a world.”

Redick, a celebrated former Duke basketball star and 15-year NBA veteran, was introduced as the 29th head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday.

Nash’s allegation, posted at 9:10 AM on Tuesday, quickly gained traction and had garnered 10 million views by the time of this writing.

In response to the claim, Redick firmly denied the incident ever took place, stating, “The accusation is completely false and did not happen. I have always strived to treat everyone with respect and dignity.”

Before his recent appointment with the Lakers, Redick was a prominent analyst for ESPN, covering the NBA Finals and hosting several podcasts, including “Mind the Game” with LeBron James.

With LeBron’s potential decision to remain in Los Angeles and play under Redick this upcoming season, the situation has drawn significant media attention.

As of now, neither Duke University nor the Los Angeles Lakers have issued statements regarding Nash’s allegation.
