USF Tight End Teigan Martin Tragically Dies at 20 in Car Crash

Teigan Martin, a promising tight end for the University of South Florida, tragically lost his life in a devastating car accident in Minnesota this week. He was just 20 years old.

The Carver County Sheriff’s Office reported that Martin was involved in a single-vehicle crash around 5 AM on Monday in Hollywood Township.

Upon arrival, first responders found a black 2013 BMW M5 that had veered into a ditch. Martin, identified as the driver, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities believe Martin’s car crossed over a lane of traffic, entered the ditch, and rolled over before coming to a halt.

While speed is considered a potential factor in the crash, police confirmed that Martin was wearing his seatbelt. An investigation is ongoing to determine if alcohol played a role in the accident.

The USF Bulls expressed their sorrow in a statement, saying they are “deeply saddened” by Martin’s untimely passing. The team extended their thoughts and prayers to his family, friends, and everyone who knew and loved him.

Martin, who joined the USF Bulls in 2023 after two seasons at Liberty University, was a standout athlete from Mayer Lutheran High School in Minnesota. His high school career was highlighted by leading his team to a state championship during his senior year.

A funeral service for Teigan Martin will be held on Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia, Minnesota.

His death marks a profound loss for the USF community and all those who witnessed his potential and spirit both on and off the field.
