Lakers Pick Bronny James in 2024 NBA Draft

Bronny James, the son of NBA superstar LeBron James, has been drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers as the 55th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.

This historic selection makes LeBron and Bronny the first father-son duo to play in the NBA simultaneously and on the same team.

The announcement was made moments ago by league deputy commissioner Mark Tatum at ESPN’s Seaport District Studios in Manhattan, marking a milestone in NBA history.

Bronny, 19, had been a focal point of speculation leading up to this year’s draft. As a four-star recruit from Sierra Canyon School in California, he initially committed to play for the USC Trojans.

However, his journey took a dramatic turn when he suffered cardiac arrest in July 2023, later attributed to a congenital heart defect.

Despite this setback, Bronny returned to the court and played in 25 games during the 2023-24 college season.

He posted averages of just under five points, three rebounds, and over two assists per game. His performance at the NBA Draft Combine showcased his shooting ability and defensive skills, solidifying his draft prospects.

With Bronny now a Laker, it virtually ensures that LeBron James will remain in Los Angeles, fulfilling his long-expressed dream of sharing an NBA court with his son.

This moment is a culmination of LeBron’s aspiration to play alongside Bronny, adding a new chapter to the James family legacy in basketball.
