A Texas security guard resigned live on-air after his manager reprimanded him for being in uniform while speaking to local TV crews about an on-duty assault.

Percy Payne, a security guard at a parking garage in Austin, was being interviewed by FOX 7 Austin about an incident captured on surveillance video.

In the footage, two young men on electric scooters allegedly assaulted him while he was protecting the garage. Percy was detailing the encounter, explaining that he believed the men were attempting to steal his car, leading to a physical confrontation.

During the interview, Percy’s manager approached and admonished him for violating company policy by wearing his uniform on TV.

A heated argument ensued, culminating in Percy stripping off his uniform and quitting his job on the spot.

He continued the interview in his street clothes, expressing frustration not only with his employer but also with the police’s handling of the assault incident.
