Female Prison Officer Investigated for In-Cell Sex tape at Wandsworth
Police are investigating a female prison officer implicated in a disturbing sex tape filmed inside a cell at HMP Wandsworth, the second-largest prison in the UK.
The explicit video shows the officer engaging in a sexual act with a muscular inmate, while her discarded prison radio emits background chatter. Another inmate filmed the encounter, circulating the footage among prisoners via contraband phones.
The video, which is about four and a half minutes long, was recorded recently at the south London facility and has since been widely shared among inmates.
During the recording, the prisoner behind the camera can be heard joking, “This is how we live at Wandsworth,” underscoring the brazen nature of the incident.
Authorities at Wandsworth, already under scrutiny for various scandals, are now conducting an investigation into the footage.
The prison made headlines last summer following the escape of remand prisoner Daniel Khalife, who reportedly strapped himself to a food delivery lorry, leading to a large-scale manhunt.
In a separate incident in January 2022, another female officer was investigated over similar conduct at the Victorian-era prison.
In the newly surfaced video, the officer, who appears to be in her 20s, is seen performing a sex act on the inmate, who has his grey shorts pulled down.
As the scene progresses, she lowers her black prison-issue trousers and has sex with the inmate against the cell door.
Throughout the encounter, her radio, which should be used for official communication, continues to crackle with messages related to “all stations” and “activity patrols.”
The officer, who no longer works for the prison service and reportedly resigned after the video emerged, disregards the radio transmissions.
Meanwhile, the filming inmate assures his friend that no one will interrupt, saying, “I’m on the door,” and at one point, places his hand over the officer’s mouth to muffle her sounds.
He also mocks the situation, referring to it as a “movie” and declaring, “This is how we live at Wandsworth, bruv. Yeah,” while holding what appears to be a cannabis cigarette.
As the couple stands up, the inmate reassures his companion, “No-one’s coming through by door, bro. I will fight them. No one’s coming – do your ting bro.”
The camera then captures a table laden with food, cleaning supplies, deodorants, and a bottle of baby oil, with the cameraman commenting, “You know we are family.”
An insider condemned the officer’s actions, labeling them as “incredibly stupid and dangerous,” and noted the lack of discipline at Wandsworth. They added that many staff members are young and lack experience, exacerbating the prison’s issues.
This scandal follows a critical report from HM Inspector of Prisons, which highlighted the urgent need for improvements at Wandsworth amid escalating violence.
The prison, housing over 1,500 inmates, has been plagued by systemic and cultural failures attributed to poor leadership. These issues led to the resignation of the prison’s governor, Katie Price, during a recent inspection.
The Prison Service has responded to the incident, with a spokesperson stating, “Staff corruption is not tolerated, and the former prison officer allegedly featured in this video has been reported to the police. It would be inappropriate to comment further while they investigate.”
London’s Metropolitan Police confirmed their awareness of the video, adding, “We have been made aware of a video allegedly filmed inside HMP Wandsworth.”
