Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja, Lagos, apprehended two passengers en route to Doha on a Qatar Airways flight after they tested positive for ingesting illicit substances on Friday, June 21.

The suspects, identified as Aikhomoun Daniel (alias Oladapo Olanrewaju) and Ayigoro Waheed Omobolaji, were detained under observatory custody following the positive test results.

According to a statement released by NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, Daniel expelled a total of 90 wraps of cocaine weighing 1.022 kilograms across six excretions. Meanwhile, Ayigoro discharged 60 wraps of the same Class A substance, totaling 662 grams in five egestions.

The investigation uncovered that Aikhomoun Daniel had stolen the identity of his late uncle, who was previously based in Germany.

Daniel, whose real name is Oladapo Olanrewaju, admitted to adopting his uncle’s identity in an attempt to secure a Schengen visa and gain easier access to Europe.

The arrests highlight the NDLEA’s ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking through Nigeria’s busiest airport, ensuring the safety and security of international travel.
