FG urges MDAs to deal with corruption

The Federal Authorities has urged Ministries, Departments, Companies and our bodies concerned in combating corruption to accentuate their efforts and strengthen their dedication to eradicating corruption within the nation.

The Lawyer-Basic of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), issued this directive on Friday in Abuja through the Validation Assembly of the Nationwide Anti-Corruption Technique Motion Plan.

The Ministry of Justice organised the NACS validation assembly with help from the European Union/Worldwide IDEA, Rule of Legislation and Anti-Corruption Programme.

Fagbemi defined that after a collection of consultations, it was concluded that the NACS Motion Plan ought to be reviewed to realize higher outcomes.

He acknowledged, “Following a collection of consultations and collaboration among the many 22 MDAs with anti-corruption and accountability mandates, it turned important to assessment the NACS Motion Plan to make sure enhanced participation, effectiveness, and responsiveness.”

Nigeria adopted the ECOWAS Protocol on the Battle Towards Corruption in 2001. In July 2003, Nigeria joined different member states in adopting the African Union Conference on Stopping and Combating Corruption. Moreover, in October 2003, member states of the United Nations, together with Nigeria, signed the United Nations Conference Towards Corruption to handle the rising incidence of worldwide corruption.

Earlier in her opening remarks, the Head of the Technical Unit on Governance and Anti-Corruption Reforms, Jane Onwumere, defined that the aim of the motion plan assessment is to deliver the technique doc to life, aiming to reduce corruption for efficient and environment friendly service supply.

The occasion was attended by the Auditor-Basic of the Federation, the Chairman of the Unbiased Corrupt Practices and Different Associated Offences Fee, the Chairman of the Financial and Monetary Crimes Fee, and the Secretary of the Public Complaints Fee, together with different anti-corruption heads and accountability our bodies.
