LP asks EFCC to probe Obi, Yesufu, Afenifere

The Nationwide Working Committee of the Labour Celebration, led by Julius Abure, has known as on the Nationwide Safety Adviser and the Financial and Monetary Crimes Fee to analyze Aisha Yesufu, Pastor Itua Ighodalo, the celebration’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and leaders of Afenifere for alleged misappropriation of funds from the 2023 presidential marketing campaign.

The decision was made by the LP’s Nationwide Publicity Secretary, Abayomi Arabambi, at a press convention in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Wednesday.

Arabambi expressed concern over current feedback by Yesufu, who defended herself in opposition to accusations of being concerned within the alleged diversion of the 2023 marketing campaign funds.

The celebration has alleged that Yesufu, together with Pastor Ighodalo and different accomplices, mismanaged and diverted over N12bn and $15m in donations supposed for the Labour Celebration’s marketing campaign.

Arabambi dismissed Yesufu’s denials as makes an attempt to cowl up the alleged monetary misconduct and criticised her statements as an insult to the celebration’s management.

He additionally accused Yesufu and her associates of performing underneath the route of Obi, whom he described as a “political service provider,” to defraud the celebration.

Moreover, Arabambi implicated Afenifere leaders, together with Pa Ayo Adebanjo, Akin Osuntokun, and Sola Ebiseni, accusing them of retaining over N600m in personal accounts linked to Afenifere.

He claimed that these people had been employed by Obi to commit fraud and divert funds from the Labour Celebration’s presidential marketing campaign.

“The trio of Pa Ayo Adebanjo, Akin Osuntokun, and Sola Ebiseni had been concerned in monetary infractions totaling over ₦600m, which they’ve stored in personal accounts and Afenifere accounts,” Arabambi said. “Peter Obi allegedly employed Aisha Yesufu, Pastor Itua Ighodalo, and this faction of Afenifere to commit looting, legal conspiracy, and diversion of funds from the Labour Celebration’s presidential marketing campaign whereas presenting themselves as elder statesmen.”

Arabambi highlighted the celebration’s dedication to transparency and accountability and known as for an investigation into all financial institution accounts related to the alleged misconduct.

He urged a radical investigation into the accounts linked to  Adebanjo, Osuntokun, and Ebiseni to establish the extent of Afenifere’s involvement within the alleged fraud.

The Nationwide Coordinator of the Obedient Motion, Dr. Yunisa Tanko, described the allegations as baseless and false.

“The allegations are unfounded. I used to be current when Aisha Yesufu offered the audited account of the presidential marketing campaign fund, and the reality is that no cash is lacking from the Labour Celebration’s accounts,” Dr. Tanko said in a telephone dialog with our correspondent.

The Deputy Chief of Afenifere, Oba Oladipo Olaitan, when contacted, mentioned he was not accustomed to the allegations. “I’ve simply seen the prolonged press assertion you might be referring to. I’ve not learn it, but when Afenifere wants to reply later, we will definitely achieve this,” Olaitan mentioned.
