Brookside legend Louis Emerick hits out at critics of cleaning soap stars as he insists there’s nonetheless a ‘stigma’ in opposition to ‘underestimated’ actors in persevering with TV dramas

Away from the soaps, Louis has had a diverse on-screen profession having impersonated Lionel Richie on Stars In Their Eyes in 2005 and previous to that he appeared reverse James Bond star Daniel Craig in Layer Cake.  

However he insisted that he ‘by no means meant’ to grow to be a cleaning soap actor as such, and he simply needs to work on tasks that encourage him. 

He added: ‘At the beginning I am an actor for rent. I wish to be working and I wish to be in one thing that is good. 

‘I wish to discover one thing that retains the artistic juices flowing and makes me wish to go to work within the morning.  Soaps tick that field and I have been lucky sufficient to be in so lots of them.’
