Lagos seals church buildings, companies over environmental infractions

In a daring transfer to deal with violations of Lagos State environmental legal guidelines, the Lagos State Environmental Safety Company has sealed off prayer centres and enterprise premises throughout the state.

This was disclosed in a press release shared on X.com by the Lagos State Commissioner for the Ministry of Atmosphere and Water Assets, Tokunbo Wahab, on Wednesday.

In response to a press release launched by LASEPA on Wednesday, the enforcement operation is a part of the company’s ongoing efforts to make sure compliance with environmental legal guidelines and shield public well being.

The assertion revealed that the institutions have been discovered responsible of violating environmental rules regardless of a number of warnings from the company.

It stated, “In a decisive step in the direction of tackling noise air pollution and different environmental violations, the Lagos State Environmental Safety Company @LasepaOfficial at this time sealed off a number of institutions throughout varied components of Lagos State.

“The enforcement operation, which focused areas in Ikeja, Mushin, Gbagada, and Maryland, is a part of the company’s ongoing efforts to make sure compliance with environmental legal guidelines and shield public well being.

“Among the many closed institutions are Important Merchandise Restricted, A & P Nigeria Restricted, Well mannered Anchorage and Suites, Redeemed Christian Church of God, Terrag Inn Residence, Night Class Visitor Home, Celestial Church of God, a printing press, Charley’s Bar, and seventh Heaven Lodge & Suites.

“These institutions have been discovered responsible of violating environmental rules regardless of a number of warnings from LASEPA.”

The assertion additional revealed that the Common Supervisor of LASEPA issued a stern warning, emphasising the company’s stance on compliance with environmental legal guidelines.

It added, “The Common Supervisor of LASEPA, Dr Babatunde Ajayi @thetundeajayi, emphasised the company’s zero-tolerance stance on non-compliance with environmental legal guidelines. ‘We is not going to tolerate non-compliance with our rules.

“Dr Ajayi stated all companies should recognise their environmental duties and collaborate with the state authorities to make sure a cleaner, extra sustainable Lagos.
