That is the imaginative sound of #stepTeam, a loosely outlined clique of producers and rappers who really feel like they’re on the verge of constructing one thing actually cool. Thus far the must-hear stuff consists of Atlanta rapper xhulooo’s sstepSKI (which has a bonkers flip of an all-time nice Uzi music), a number of nutty singles by Jersey’s Maajins, and no matter is uploaded to ivvys’ SoundCloud web page. The latest ivvys music, “bikini,” is tough as hell: His scratchy-voiced raps are principally buried underneath a turbulent beat (self-produced with assist from Yeat-whisperer Artificial and dreamr) that hits with the depth of a kind of storms out at sea in Grasp and Commander. The online game clips flickering within the background take this bugged-out monitor into the deepest, most experimentally abrasive corners of Jersey membership.
