Inmate Reveals Why He Attacked Scott Peterson in Prison Pickleball Brawl

Prison inmate Charles Miles recently shared his side of the story after attacking convicted wife-killer Scott Peterson behind bars earlier this month.

In an exclusive preview clip obtained by TMZ, Charles told Court TV via phone that the fight erupted during a game of pickleball when Scott aggressively sprinted at him, paddle in hand, allegedly chasing the ball. According to Charles, Scott made no effort to avoid a collision, which instantly triggered his “attack mode.”

Angered by the impact, Charles said he “beat him down to the ground” and “beat the hell out of him.” He described a brief struggle before overpowering Scott, climbing on top of him, and repeatedly striking him.

Despite the violent encounter, Charles revealed that he and Scott later patched things up. They spoke the next day to smooth things over, with Charles admitting he found it wise to stay on good terms with Peterson—given his financial resources and potential influence over other inmates.

Surprisingly, the two even spent about two hours discussing the incident from their isolated cells. Charles said he ultimately apologized, explaining that his reaction was driven by a “primal urge” intensified by Scott’s past crimes. He also claimed Scott tried once again to convince him of his innocence.

Peterson, who was convicted of murdering his wife, Laci, and their unborn child on Christmas Eve in 2002, was initially sentenced to death. However, his sentence was overturned in 2020, and he now serves life in prison without parole.
