Man Arrested for Alleged Abduction, Rape, and Murder of Two 5-Year-Old Girls in Port Harcourt
A man has reportedly been arrested in connection with the abduction, rape, and murder of two five-year-old cousins in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
According to a family member, the girls were found dead on the morning of Saturday, March 22, with their throats slit, just hours after they were declared missing. The devastated relative shared the heartbreaking news online, revealing that the suspect allegedly committed the crime for “ogwụ ego“—a term associated with ritual practices for financial gain.
“Two cousins, children of my own cousins, went missing yesterday morning in Port Harcourt. Their parents shared a house. I just received news that they were kidnapped, raped, and their throats slit.
“Their throats were slit in less than 20 hours. They were just five years old. My whole body is trembling,” she wrote.
“Thank you all for your condolences and the overwhelming support. The suspect has been arrested—it turns out this was done for ‘ ọgwụego’ (money ritual). Their bodies are in the morgue as investigations continue. My heart is shattered into a million pieces, but beyond the pain, I am filled with rage.”
“It was one man. A criminal. I can’t see clearly anymore; I have no more tears left to cry. I want to get on a flight to Port Harcourt, walk into the police station, and smash his head in. I want to inflict unimaginable pain—I want to burn, cut, slash, and destroy endlessly!”
