Damon Dash Hit with $4M Judgment in Defamation Case
Damon Dash has been ordered to pay $4 million in a defamation lawsuit filed by filmmaker Josh Webber, marking a costly legal defeat for the Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, the judgment stems from Webber’s lawsuit, which accused Dash of making defamatory remarks that allegedly cost him a lucrative $4 million directing and producing opportunity.
Webber filed the lawsuit in April 2024, citing comments Dash made on the “Earn Your Leisure” podcast. During the interview, Dash accused Webber and his associates of stealing from him amid their dispute over the film Dear Frank. Dash reportedly stated, “These guys trigger me and steal my s** … you think there is freedom of speech, it’s really not.”*
As a result of these statements, Webber claimed his professional reputation suffered, leading to lost opportunities. The court ultimately ruled in Webber’s favor, issuing a $4 million default judgment against Dash.
This legal setback is just the latest in a series of financial and legal troubles for Dash, who has faced multiple lawsuits and financial challenges in recent years.
