Former Rivers State Head of Service, Dr. George Nwaeke, has denied allegations that he was kidnapped and coerced into making statements against suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

In a video statement released on Saturday, Nwaeke dismissed concerns raised by his wife, Florence, who had publicly expressed fears over his safety following his resignation earlier in the week.

He clarified that he voluntarily traveled to Abuja to report himself to security agencies regarding the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State.

“I am in Transcorp Abuja. I arrived this morning from Port Harcourt to meet with security agencies and report myself, as well as address the troubling events happening in Rivers State. I resigned as Head of Service on Monday because of these developments,” he stated.

Nwaeke also refuted claims made by his wife, asserting that she had been misinformed.

“I just saw a video of my wife trending. She was told I had been kidnapped and given a script to read. I want to make it clear—I have not been kidnapped. I am in Abuja, working,” he declared.

He further emphasized that his wife had no involvement in his official duties and that her concerns were based on false information.

“That script she read is null and void. I am safe and sound. I will report myself to the appropriate security agencies because Abuja houses their headquarters, and I feel safer making my report here,” he added.

Meanwhile, Florence Nwaeke remains deeply worried about her husband’s well-being. She revealed that while he had contacted her to confirm his arrival in Abuja, she became alarmed after watching an online interview featuring him.

“I said, ‘That is not my husband. That is not my husband,’” she recounted.

She described her desperate efforts to reach him, stating, “I sent him a message: ‘Are you under duress? Have they kidnapped you? Talk to me now. Why are you not responding?’ But he didn’t reply. His numbers are not going through. Nigerians, help me!”

The conflicting narratives have sparked widespread reactions, with many questioning the true circumstances surrounding Nwaeke’s sudden resignation and his relocation to Abuja.
