Rapper Young Scooter Dies in Freak Accident While Fleeing Police on 39th Birthday
American rapper Young Scooter, born Kenneth Edward Bailey, tragically died on his 39th birthday after sustaining a fatal injury while attempting to flee from police in Atlanta.
The incident occurred on Friday when police responded to reports of gunfire and a woman being forcibly taken back inside a home in southeast Atlanta, according to 11 Alive. Upon arrival, officers encountered a man who briefly opened the door before slamming it shut. Moments later, two men attempted to escape from the back of the house.
“One male returned back into the house. The other male jumped two fences as he was fleeing. When officers located him on the other side of the fence, he appeared to have suffered an injury to his leg,” said Atlanta Police Department Lt. Andrew Smith during a press conference.
Bailey was rushed to Grady Marcus Trauma Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The exact cause of death remains under investigation, but authorities have clarified that he was not shot by police.
“Just to be very clear, the injury that was sustained was not via the officers on scene. It was when the male was fleeing,” Smith emphasized.
Originally from South Carolina, Bailey moved to Atlanta at the age of nine and made a name for himself in the hip-hop industry. He gained recognition in 2012 with his breakout track “Colombia” and later signed with Future’s Freebandz record label. Over the years, he collaborated with major artists such as Future, Young Thug, Juicy J, Quavo, and Offset. His notable tracks include “DI$Function” and “Jet Lag” with Juice WRLD.
His sudden passing has left fans and the hip-hop community mourning the loss of yet another influential artist.
