Singer Sean Kingston and his mother, Janice Turner, have been found guilty of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and multiple counts of fraud in a federal trial.

Kingston, 35, whose real name is Kisean Anderson, has been placed under house arrest with electronic monitoring, while Turner was taken into custody.

The court also ordered Kingston to post a surety bond, including $200,000 in cash and a home valued at $500,000. Their sentencing is scheduled for July 11.

The trial, which began on March 24 and concluded on March 28, resulted in a guilty verdict after the jury deliberated for just three and a half hours. Prosecutors accused the mother-son duo of defrauding several businesses, including jewelers, a television installation company, and a luxury car dealership, obtaining over $1 million in goods and services through fraudulent means.

One key witness, Fort Lauderdale jeweler Moshe Edery, testified that he lost his reputation after a $285,000 payment from Kingston bounced. “I’m being scammed,” Edery told the court.

The prosecution revealed that Turner often handled logistics, ensuring deliveries were made before sending fake wire transfers. The fraudulent scheme spanned several years before their arrest in May 2024.

While the defense argued that some alleged victims had been reimbursed and claimed no intent to defraud, the court found Kingston and Turner guilty on all charges. The judge deemed Turner a flight risk, noting her testimony during the trial.

As Kingston was escorted from the courthouse, he pleaded with U.S. Marshals to “protect my mother.”

Kingston, originally from Miami but raised in Jamaica, rose to fame in 2007 with his hit song Beautiful Girls. He later collaborated with artists like Justin Bieber and made appearances on Disney Channel’s The Suite Life on Deck.
