Alaneme, founder of Essex-based CareerEdu, was caught on camera offering to sell fake job placements for thousands of pounds.

He admitted that while charging candidates for jobs was illegal, many still paid due to limited opportunities.

One victim, Praise, a Nigerian man, paid over £10,000 for a UK care job that never existed. He arrived in the UK only to discover the deception, leaving him stranded and financially ruined.

The investigation also found that a UK care company, Efficiency for Care, issued over 1,200 Certificates of Sponsorship (CoS) despite employing only 152 workers. The firm later had its sponsorship license revoked but denies wrongdoing.

Authorities have since revoked Alaneme’s alleged associate’s sponsorship license and pledged tougher action against visa fraud.

Experts warn that the UK’s Health and Care Work visa system has become a hotspot for exploitation, turning into a “national crisis.”
