Tsiga was abducted on February 5, 2025, alongside nine others from his hometown in Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State. His release comes after prolonged negotiations and a hefty ransom payment by his family.

While initial reports suggested a ₦60 million ransom demand, a Daily Trust investigation revealed the actual amount paid was nearly three times higher. Despite receiving the ransom, the kidnappers delayed Tsiga’s release for a week before allowing his family to speak with him on March 11.

A family source disclosed that Tsiga was eventually freed in Zamfara State, from where arrangements were made for his transportation to Abuja. A senior military officer confirmed that he is in good health and safe following his harrowing ordeal.
