Chelsea Edge Spurs 1-0 as Fernandez Goal Secures Top-Four Spot
Chelsea secured a crucial 1-0 victory over Tottenham at Stamford Bridge, with Enzo Fernandez’s second-half header proving the difference.

The win lifts Chelsea back into the Premier League’s top four, while Spurs remain winless in four games and sit 14th in the table.

VAR Controversy Sparks Ange Postecoglou’s Frustration
Tottenham thought they had equalized through Pape Matar Sarr’s long-range strike, but VAR ruled the goal out, prompting Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou to criticize the impact of video reviews on football.
“VAR is killing the game, mate. We all sat on our couches last night and saw a clear foul [Everton’s Tarkowski on Liverpool’s Mac Allister], but nothing happened. Tonight, we waited six minutes for something that was supposed to be ‘clear and obvious.’ It’s madness,” Postecoglou told Sky Sports.

Despite his frustrations, he admitted Spurs needed to improve: “It was a tough game, not an easy place to come. We fought back but couldn’t get anything out of it.”
Chelsea’s Resurgence Under Maresca
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca was pleased with the team’s performance but emphasized the need for grit in tough matches.
“We created enough chances to win. In the last 10 minutes, we showed effort, togetherness, and spirit. If we want to be a top team, we have to win in different ways – sometimes ugly,” Maresca said.

Chelsea’s win was further highlighted by Cole Palmer’s assist, his seventh of the season, the most by any Blues player.
Levi Colwill Praises Fans’ Support
Chelsea defender Levi Colwill, who played a key role in keeping Spurs at bay, credited the supporters for pushing the team over the line.
“The fans were amazing. They gave us that extra energy in the final minutes. We knew Tottenham’s weaknesses, and we executed our game plan well,” Colwill told Sky Sports.
Chelsea’s victory strengthens their push for Champions League qualification, while Spurs face growing concerns over their form as the season nears its climax.
