Petition to Recall Natasha Fails Constitutional Requirement – INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared that the petition aimed at recalling Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central Senatorial District, has failed to meet the constitutional requirements necessary for such a process.

INEC made this announcement via a post on its official X (formerly Twitter) account on Thursday, April 3, clarifying that the petition did not comply with the stipulations outlined in Section 69(a) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

Quoting the relevant constitutional provision, the commission stated, “The petition for the recall of the Senator representing the Kogi Central Senatorial District has not met the requirement of Section 69(a) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended).”

This decision effectively halts any further action on the recall attempt, reaffirming the legal standards required for the process.
