Young Thug Avoids Jail as Judge Rules No Probation Violation

Young Thug will remain free after a judge ruled that his controversial social media post did not violate his probation.

Judge Whitaker determined that while Thug’s repost of a blogger’s image of a police investigator—along with his caption calling her the “biggest liar in the DA’s office”—was unwise, it wasn’t enough to send him back to jail.

The judge reviewed the terms of his probation and stated, “The Court declines to revoke Defendant’s probation based on the violation asserted.”

However, she did issue a cautionary note, advising Thug that “it may be prudent for Defendant to exercise restraint regarding certain topics.”

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis had pushed for Thug’s probation to be revoked, arguing that his post triggered online threats against both the testifying officer and Willis herself.

Had the judge agreed, Thug could have been sent back to jail, despite securing his release last October after striking a plea deal in the YSL RICO case, which left him serving 15 years on probation.

For now, Thug remains free—but with a warning to be more mindful of his online activity moving forward.
