Kamala Harris Backs Protests Against Trump, Musk
Former U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris has voiced strong support for the nationwide protests targeting President Donald Trump and billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk, urging Americans to continue speaking out against what she calls “aggressive and harmful policy shifts.”
Taking to her X account on April 5, 2025, Harris praised demonstrators rallying across all 50 states, accusing the Trump administration of pushing forward with “Project 2025” — a controversial plan to drastically cut government spending and overhaul key public institutions.
“Today in every state across our nation, Americans are standing up to the administration as they implement Project 2025 at full speed,” Harris wrote. “Thank you for using your voices and the power of protest to stand for Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid; for the Department of Education and programs like Head Start; for clean air and water; and for the right to make decisions about your own body without government interference.”
She added, “The voices of working people will always be louder than the unelected billionaires.”
The demonstrations come in response to sweeping reforms introduced under Trump’s second term. Protesters are particularly alarmed by Project 2025’s proposed cuts to social welfare programs and the growing influence of private sector figures in public policy.
A major focal point of criticism is Elon Musk’s leadership of the newly formed Department of Government Efficiency, which has begun conducting audits and initiating reforms across various sectors, including education, healthcare, defense, and foreign aid.
In a statement, the White House defended its agenda, highlighting what it called the “early successes” of its cost-cutting efforts, claiming they are aimed at eliminating waste and improving government performance.
However, critics argue the changes risk undermining vital public services and prioritizing corporate interests over the needs of everyday Americans.
