A woman has opened up about a humiliating incident at her wedding reception that ultimately led to the end of her marriage before it was even legally recognized.
In response to a viral video showing a groom smashing cake into his bride’s face during their reception — leaving her visibly stunned and uncomfortable — the woman shared her own distressing experience on X (formerly Twitter).
Recalling her wedding at just 18 years old, she described it as a charming Sunday morning ceremony at a historic hotel in Hollywood, attended by around 100 guests.
But what began as a joyful occasion quickly turned into a nightmare.
“When it came time to cut the cake,” she wrote, “he grabbed the back of my head and smeared cake all over my entire face and hair.
He also stepped on the front of my dress and pulled it down, exposing my bra in front of everyone.”
Overcome with embarrassment and tears, she was comforted by the mother of a former boyfriend, who was among the guests and helped her clean up in the restroom.
Despite having just exchanged vows, the couple never legally filed their marriage documents.
They separated within a few months, though in hindsight, she admitted, “I should’ve left him immediately.”
The woman’s story has sparked outrage online, with many calling the groom’s actions abusive and disrespectful. One commenter wrote, “I’d be getting that marriage annulled.
What kind of man humiliates his wife on their wedding day and then forces her to high-five him afterwards?”
