Father, Two Kids Killed in New Plateau Attack

A father and his two sons were brutally killed in a fresh wave of violence that struck Zogu Community in Miango, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The attack, believed to have been carried out by suspected bandits, occurred early Friday morning and marks another tragic incident in a region already reeling from recent bloodshed.

The victims — 56-year-old Weyi Gebeh and his sons, Zhu Weyi, 25, and Henry Weyi, 16 — were reportedly ambushed and killed in their home, bringing the total number of lives lost in the Irigwe land this week alone to nine.

Sam Jugo, the National Publicity Secretary of the Irigwe Development Association (IDA), confirmed the killings in a statement.

He condemned the ongoing violence, noting that the attack came less than a week after a similar incident in Bokkos villages that claimed over 60 lives.

“The deteriorating security situation in Irigwe land is deeply troubling. We urge security agencies to act swiftly to stop these barbaric attacks and ensure those responsible are brought to justice,” Jugo said.

He also questioned the motive behind the attacks, saying, “The way these criminal elements strike with such impunity suggests something more sinister than mere reprisal for alleged wrongs.”

The IDA called for increased protection and meaningful action to safeguard lives and restore peace in the region.
