Governor Alia: I Can’t Guarantee Safety in Benue Without Prior Notice

Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has issued a strong advisory warning that he cannot ensure the safety of any individual or group entering the state without prior notice or official clearance.

In a statement released on Monday, April 14, by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, and titled “Notice Regarding Unscheduled Visit to Benue State,” the governor made it clear that he is not expecting any visitors at the moment and is currently occupied with critical engagements involving top government stakeholders.

“The Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, wishes to inform the public that he is not expecting any August visitor to the state today,” the statement read.

“He is presently engaged in high-level deliberations on urgent matters concerning the wellbeing and security of the state.”

Governor Alia cautioned against any unauthorized visits, particularly those that could result in political gatherings or public assemblies.

He stressed that any such visit made without formal approval would be done at the visitor’s own risk, as the government could not be held accountable for their safety.

“Any group or prominent individual planning to visit the state, especially for events that might trigger political activity or crowd assembly, must seek and obtain formal permission from the appropriate authorities,” the statement warned.

“Anyone considering an unscheduled visit should immediately reconsider, as the government cannot guarantee their security.”

The statement also noted that anyone intending to visit Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps within the state must first secure written approval from the Benue State Emergency Management Agency (BSEMA).

Governor Alia called on security agencies and members of the public to remain vigilant and support the government’s efforts to maintain peace and order throughout the state.
