Gene Hackman Dog Guards Wife’s Body in Police Cam Footage
Police have released body cam footage connected to the deaths of Gene Hackman and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, revealing a heartbreaking scene inside their Santa Fe home.

The video, obtained by TMZ, shows officers entering the residence during a welfare check, combing through the property in search of the couple.

Betsy’s body was discovered first, lying near a locked exterior door with one of their dogs loyally beside her. Gene’s body was later found near the kitchen area.
Tragically, a second dog was found deceased inside a crate—reportedly placed there after a veterinary visit.

The footage also highlights the deteriorated condition of the couple’s home, which appeared heavily cluttered and unkempt.
A subsequent environmental assessment by the New Mexico Department of Public Health confirmed a severe rodent infestation, with dead rodents and nests found in eight separate outbuildings on the property.

The video paints a somber picture of the final days of the iconic actor and his wife, raising questions about the circumstances that led to their tragic deaths.
